Even though the floating clouds were on the moon's surface, it was a joy to see them pass by so quickly.

(372) 過ぎやらで月近くゆくうき雲のただよふ見るはわびしかりけり

月近くに雲が過ぎ去ることなく漂うのを見るのはわびしいことです

It is sad to see clouds drifting near the moon without ever passing by.

 

(373) 厭へどもさすがに雲のうち散りて月のあたりを離れざりけり

雲をいくら厭うても、雲は散りこそすれ月の近くからは離れません

No matter how much we hate the clouds, they may scatter, but they never leave the moon's vicinity.

 

(374) 雲はらふあらしに月のみがかれて光得て澄む秋の空かな

雲を散らす嵐によって月が磨かれ、秋の空が明るくなります

The moon is polished by the storm that scatters the clouds, and the autumn sky get bright.

 

(375) くまもなき月の光をながむればまづ姥捨の山ぞ恋しき

澄んだ月を眺めていると、まず姥捨の山々が懐かしくなります

When I look at the clear moon, the first thing that comes to my mind is nostalgia for the mountains of Ubasute.

(376) 月冴ゆる明石の瀬戸に風ふけばこほりの上にたたむ白波

月が冴える明石の瀬戸に風が吹けば氷の上に白波が打ち重なるようです

When the wind blows through the Akashi Strait under the clear moon, it looks like white waves are crashing 

onto the ice.

こほり：海面に映る月光を氷に見立てている。

 

(377) 天の原おなじ岩戸を出づれども光ことなる秋の夜の月

どの月も同じ天の岩戸を出るのだが秋の夜の月の光は別格です

Every moon shines through the same cave in the sky, but the light of the moon on an autumn night is 

something special.
